We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) to join a leading healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The successful candidate will provide specialized critical care services for infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening medical and surgical conditions in a state-of-the-art Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
- Manage patients with respiratory failure, septic shock, trauma, neurological emergencies, congenital and acquired cardiac conditions, multi-organ dysfunction, and postoperative critical care needs.
- Perform advanced critical care procedures, including:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Mechanical ventilation management
- Central venous and arterial catheter insertion
- Chest tube insertion
- Lumbar puncture
- Procedural sedation
- Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), where credentialed
- Lead pediatric resuscitation and rapid response interventions.
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, neonatologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide compassionate communication and counseling to patients' families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and prognosis.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention, and clinical governance.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, research, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, fellows, residents, and PICU staff.Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS/MD or equivalent medical qualification.
- Board Certification in Pediatrics with Fellowship or recognized subspecialty qualification in Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine (PICU).
- Minimum 5β10 years of post-specialization experience at the Consultant level.
- Eligibility for or possession of a Department of Health (DOH) β Abu Dhabi Consultant license.
- Expertise in pediatric critical care, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, emergency resuscitation, and management of critically ill children.
- Current PALS and ACLS certifications are preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
- Commitment to delivering evidence-based, compassionate, family-centered care.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience working in internationally accredited tertiary care children's hospitals.
- UAE or GCC experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care, ECMO, Pediatric Critical Care Ultrasound, or Pediatric Transport Medicine is an added advantage.Benefits
