Managerial Task:
- Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures
- Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes

Technical Task:
- Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Consultant Physician’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide
- Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
- Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures
- Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
- Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
- Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
- Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
Requirements
- •Ability to diagnose and treat patients according to best practice standards
- •Experience in overseeing clinical activities of junior medical staff
- •Ability to lead ward rounds and reassess patients regularly
- •Proficiency in documenting clinical information accurately and timely
- •Ability to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and support services
- •Experience in obtaining informed consent and preparing patients for procedures
