Charge Nurse -Medical (STMC)

• Provides professional leadership and supervises nursing staff throughout the shift.

• Acts as a role model, mentor, and resource for clinical and administrative guidance.

• Ensures safe staffing levels and appropriate patient‑to‑nurse ratios based on acuity.

• Supports staff in clinical decision‑making, conflict resolution, and prioritization of workload.

• Provides constructive feedback, coaching, and performance support to the team.

• Leads the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager, ensuring continuity of operations.

• Practices within regulatory scope and adheres to DOH and organizational policies.

• Supports competency development and education for junior staff and new hires.

• Maintains mandatory and medical‑unit–specific competencies.

• Participates in clinical audits, research, and evidence‑based initiatives.

• Demonstrates ongoing development in leadership and medical-unit management.
