Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director - Project Controls to join our organization in Doha, Qatar. In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee all project controls functions for major airport development and expansion initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to lead a controls team while managing complex, multi-million dollar airport projects in a dynamic international environment.
- Direct and manage the project controls team, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
- Develop and implement comprehensive project controls strategies, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost management frameworks
- Monitor project performance using Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies and provide detailed variance analysis and forecasting
- Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards that communicate project status, risks, and financial performance to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements specific to airport operations
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to establish realistic timelines and budgets
- Conduct regular project audits and controls reviews to maintain data integrity and process effectiveness
- Manage project documentation, change orders, and baseline updates throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in project planning sessions and contribute to strategic decision-making for airport development initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of professional experience in project controls, project management, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing controls on large-scale infrastructure or airport development projects
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing project controls teams
- Advanced proficiency in project management software and tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent)
- Strong expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) and project performance analysis
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working in international project environments and multicultural teams
- Knowledge of airport operations, aviation industry standards, and regulatory compliance requirements (preferred)
- Familiarity with Middle Eastern business practices and project delivery models (preferred)
- Professional project management certification (PMP, DRHM, or equivalent) (preferred)
