An expat project engineer cannot start work until the Ministry of Labour approves a work permit, commonly called the labour card. Engineer-titled work permits normally involve professional accreditation through the Oman Society of Engineers. Royal Decree 53/2023 issued Oman's current Labour Law, which governs project engineers in contracting and consulting firms. The headline terms:

Licences and credentials for a Project Engineer in Oman
