Why Nigerian CVs Stall in Gulf ATS Screening
Nigerian engineers, bankers, accountants, IT specialists and oil and gas professionals bring exactly the experience Gulf economies look for. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Riyadh employers in energy, finance and technology all hire internationally — and almost all of them screen applications with Applicant Tracking Systems first.
Nigerian CVs often follow local conventions that Gulf systems ignore: state of origin, date of birth, marital status and a long career objective at the top, and credentials such as COREN, ICAN or CIBN written only as acronyms Gulf recruiters may not recognise. Upstream and downstream oil and gas experience is described in general terms instead of naming standards like API and ASME, operators and project types. Visa status — which Gulf recruiters check early — is often missing.
